Do You Spend Impulsively?

Now let’s be honest–how many times have you said to your spouse or significant other–I’ll just be a minute–I only need to go in an get a few things. By the time you’re outside in your car–you look down and say–how in the world did I spend $100? I was only going in for a few items.

I’ve done it and I don’t know anybody who hasn’t.

Our whole site is about education and helping folks to get their finances in order. But before we go there–there are some painful steps you need to go over.

Get a piece of paper and answer the following questions:

Answer honestly…

Does your family complain that you spend too much?

Are you afraid to open the mail? Your credit card statement? Are you always shocked?

How many shoes can one person really wear? How many do you really need?

spendingLook around your home–do you have every gadget under the sun? We used to. Then we realized that this year’s PS2 always ended up in next year’s yard sale. That exercise equipment we always ended up advertising on Craigslist. So take a good hard look.

How many times have you been standing in the checkout line and by the time you walked out; you have an extra drink, some wipes for your car, a candy bar, chips, oh yeah and gum?

Come on let’s face it–nobody can answer No to all of the above questions.

We’re not picking on anyone here. We want to educate you and it starts with simple things. So go through your home–get a pen and paper and start a list of all the items/clothes/whatever that you have purchased and never, ever use.

Let’s declutter our home this week–so we can move on and declutter our finances–beginning next week.

I love to shop and have learned that I don’t need it, because nothing matters that is materialistic excess baggage. I’ve learned to say no.
